The weather has been so wonderful lately and I am dreading next month or June, when it really starts to rain a lot and get unbearably humid. Last weekend was fun because I made apple pie on Saturday then roast beef and potatoes on Sunday. Yes cooking and being very domestic can also be exciting! Also, I want to make roast before it gets too hot to want to eat heavy stuff like that. ;) On Sunday, we also ran into Emily at Starbucks. This was just before we went to Takashimaya to buy the roast beef and some bagels. This Tuesday the 29th, was a holiday and I went to the Imperial Palace, Gosho, for a small picnic with fellow ALTs/friends in Kyoto.
Now, we are in the middle of a 4-day weekend here in Kyoto, Golden Week, but not really a week! Dave and I decided to stay put and relax. We haven't had much down time in the city. We are always busy with school and online courses and such, and the weekends are just never long enough. On Friday, we went out to dinner at Za-Watami with Julia and Kaitlyn, then for drinks at the best Moonwalk Bar and at the hidden Elephant Bar with Julia, Kate and her sister. Yesterday, I went out to dinner with Yukari to the Indonesia restaurant, Zappa. It is a very charismatic place, but the food was nothing special. (The similar Thai place I went to in Kobe with Hiroko was much better, I think! That was a great day in Kobe for the container exhibition.) We also went to the Marbles Bar. I had totally been wanting to go there. It was chic.
Today we are going to make another roast, lamb, and tomorrow we are heading to Shiga for a BBQ with Christine and Seth. Later this week, I have a friend visiting from Tokyo and on Saturday, Dave and I are going tea-picking. We may also meet Yuka and Dai soon for lunch or dinner. Yuka is due at the beginning of June, but she's says it may be sooner. Her baby is 2 kilos now, but it should be 3 kilos when it's born!
